Few quick observations:

-Taji Johnson sorta looks like Larry Fitz. Big dude who can go up and get it. He’s definitely gained weight too

-Logan Taylor is massive. Everyone’s massive when you’re 5’ tall but this dude is going to be a problem

-On the other side, Khris Banks might be in for a breakout year. He’s gotten bigger and looks like a different guy

-I can’t wait to watch O’Keefe return kicks. Just his first step is absurdly quick

-Saw McCarthy working with the TE’s

OT: Stuck in Buffalo until Wednesday Afternoon. Any Recommendations?

I flew up to Buffalo for a funeral on Friday. I was supposed to fly out yesterday afternoon but got stuck due to weather. Same today. I now fly out Wednesday afternoon.

Any suggestions of things to do/see in downtown Buffalo on a Tuesday? I don’t have a car, but can Uber somewhere. If any of you live here and want to grab a bite or a drink, let me know.

(OT) Cancer Sucks

You guys have been awesome and generously donated to my Pan-Mass Challenge ride the past few years. The PMC is this weekend and I will be riding two days from Babson College in Wellesley to Provincetown. 100% of all money donated goes to cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Thank you to Winningeagle for his donation.

This is the link to my donation page: https://profile.pmc.org/TF0155

This year I am dedicating my ride in the memory of Patrick Nash one of my best friends from BC. Pat died from pancreatic cancer last November.

Day 5 Q&A with Hafley - Interesting QB & K nuggets

Well, well, well, we actually got a couple nuggets from Haf today. Backup QB and kicker news, and it sounds like that QB1 thing might be closer than I think. Although, I don't believe Morehead's in any actual danger yet and he deserves the chance to continue showing he's the guy for the first three weeks at least.

"Out-of-the-box" conference thought for BC

No doubt I'll be ridiculed for suggesting this idea, but just give it a moments thought. How about BC in the Ivy League? First, I have no idea if the Ivy League would ever consider adding a new team generally, or BC in particular, but might be worth a bit of exploring. Consider:
1. the Ivy League actually adheres to student-athlete model;
2. the Ivy League significantly enhances academic prestige and reputation, really the essential consideration for a serious university; attractive to students from across the globe; Ivy League is still "top of the food chain" for universities;
3. Ivy League basketball and Ivy League hockey are very competitive and play at a high level, even "NCAA tournament level";
5. football is certainly not at the top level, but it is played in wonderful settings / venues on Fall afternoons in the Northeast: Dartmouth, Princeton, Harvard etc. Football games and tailgate experience is authentically collegiate.
6. obviously, conference stability is not an issue and "re-alignment" is not a threat;

BC seems to me to be a terrific profile for the Ivy League: outstanding academics, true student-athlete model for athletics teams, private university, geographic "fit".

Updates from 1st day of practice

Eagles are back on the field inside Fish. Here’s what I saw in the half hour we get:

-Lytton was hitting bombs before the rest of the team got there, looked bigger too
-Candotti was punting balls that were hitting the roof.
-TE’s were the 1st position group to arrive, then QB’s, then DB’s & LB’s, DL & OL (all within 5 minutes of each other)
-The WR’s hit sleds briefly & worked on getting off being jammed. Big, athletic group
-Garwo, O’Keefe, Tomlin, Williams & Khari Johnson were fielding punts
-Only real drill I saw was the usual ball security drill
-Met the AD for the 1st time. Nice enough but weird vibe. Said I thought it’ll be a good year for the team and he said “it needs to be” so take that for what it’s worth
