Interview with Matt Applebaum

From Media Day on Sunday. Hafley said in a press conference before we got the assistants that he's pretty sure they know the starting 5 at this point, wouldn't reveal it though (more from him tomorrow), which is why it's not brought up in here. Otherwise, I thought Applebaum had some interesting stuff to say...

Fedex Cup

This one’s for PG, Have to admit I’ve never completely understood the rules and strategy for this tournament or is it tournaments, sounds like there are three of them.. I thought that if a player was in the top 50 in Memphis then he goes to Chicago and if in the top 30 there then on to Atlanta but guess that ain’t so. Take Jordan Spieth, was comfortably in the 50, now loses two strokes to par today yet still listed as favorite to advance to East Lake yet he’s now at risk not to make it at even par for BMW, apparently a top 30 finish at Olympia Fields does not guarantee a trip to the championship, can somebody explain.

What we've learned about BC's opponents to date during camp

Kevin's providing coverage of BC's fall camp but it also matters what's happening inside all of the programs that the Eagles will face this year.

Here's a roundup of camp so far at some of the programs BC will be facing.

Zay looking good in Baltimore

Great feedback from coaches, teammates and ESPN:

22. Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens

How he has fared so far: Flowers has been impressive with his ability to consistently get open. The Ravens have drafted six wide receivers in the first round in their history, but none has shown this type of route-running as a rookie. Teammates and coaches have raved about his sharp change of direction, which has caused plenty of separation this offseason. "Zay is shifty," quarterback Lamar Jackson said. "Zay is very fast, explosive. He can stop on the dime."

Flowers has had the occasional drop, which was a problem in college. But Ravens officials have shown no concern over his hands. Flowers is projected to be among Baltimore's top three wide receivers alongside Odell Beckham Jr. and Rashod Bateman. -- Jamison Hensley.

Reasons for optimism

It’s fall camp and the vibe on this board is as bad as any of the preseasons I’ve been here for. CFB is supposed to be fun, and for 98% of CFB fan bases, fall camp is the high watermark of confidence and optimism. I listened to unnecessary roughness’ ACC preview and they (rightly) picked us as one of the worst teams in the acc. That’s no fun.

Before toe meets leather and we lose to NIU or something, what are some things we’re optimistic about? I’ll start:

-oline has nowhere to go but up. Experience is key, and we have a ton of that. Mahogany and the transfers are legit. Morehead will have time to throw,

-morehead might be a stud. He was thrust into one of the hardest spots amy freshman could’ve been and has some very bright spots. He has an absolute cannon of an arm, should take a big step forward in his second year

-wrs are going to be one of the best wr groups in the acc.

-defensive line has more experience and some transfers, they might be able to get some pressure going

That’s pretty much all I can think of. What say you?
