The Nebraska men's basketball team return home Wednesday night, as the Huskers will take on Boston College in the ACC/Big Ten Men's Basketball Challenge presented by Continental Tire. Tipoff is set for 8:15 p.m. and tickets are available by visiting Huskers.com/Tickets, calling the NU Athletic Ticket Office at 800-8-BIGRED during business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mon.-Fri.) and at the Pinnacle Bank Arena Ticket Office beginning Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.

Wednesday's game is also the annual Toys for Tots Drive, as the Huskers have partnered with the U.S. Marines on the event. Husker fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to the game, and cash donations for the cause will be taken. The Marines will be stationed at both Pinnacle Bank Arena entrances (South Lobby and North Entrance) to accept donations that will brighten the holiday season for children in the Omaha and Lincoln area.
The Huskers (4-3) return home following a 1-2 weekend at the ESPN Events Invitational following a 75-58 victory against Florida State on Sunday night. The Huskers put together their most complete game of the season in the win over the Seminoles, shooting 50 percent from the field and putting five players in double figures. Derrick Walker led NU with a career-high 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Sam Griesel, Keisei Tominaga and C.J. Wilcher added 13 apiece. NU which had 11 first-half turnovers, committed just three miscues in the final 30 minutes while holding Florida State to 36.4 percent shooting in the second half.

Walker has been a force since returning to the lineup as he posted double-doubles in both contests after missing Nebraska's first five games. The 6-foot-9 senior is averaging 17.5 points on 74 percent shooting along with 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Walker's inside presence has opened up the Huskers' offense, as Nebraska has put at least four players in double figures over the last two contests.

Boston College (5-2) comes off a 53-49 win over Rhode Island on Sunday. The Eagles held the Rams to 23 percent shooting in the second half to break open a 28-all halftime tie. BC trailed 44-40 with less than eight minutes remaining before closing the game on a 13-5 run. Jaeden Zackery led BC with 16 points, as the Eagles went 18-of-23 from the line, including 10-of-12 in the second half.

Numbers to Know
.667 -Derrick Walker's career field goal percentage at Nebraska. He is on track to set NU's career record in that category. Larry Cox (.625, 1974-76) and Dave Hoppen (.600, 1983-86) are the only two Huskers with career field goal percentages above .600.

9.2 - Nebraska is allowing its opponents only 9.2 free throw attempts per game. The Huskers have held four of its seven opponents to 10 free throws or less this season. NU held both Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Oklahoma to three free throw attempts. On the other hand, NU is getting to the line an average of 17.2 times per game.

2019 - The season opener over Maine marked the first time since the first round of the 2019 Big Ten Tournament (68-61 vs. Rutgers) where the Huskers won a game while being out-shot by its opponent.

Why were so many players missing ...................

.........in the Cuse debacle? What is going on with this team? All together about a half dozen players have gone missing this year with no official explanation. Trust me Haf, it is better to make public what seems like a mess now rather than let other colleges fill in the blanks on the recruiting and portal trail.
Maybe this is the mess that will get Haf canned. MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT NOW!

Thoughts on the Rody game.

There are certain guys [Penha, ML] who shouldn't have the green light to take the threes. Just a waste of possessions
IF Madsen is a 3 point specialist than I should be one given I have 3 yrs of eligibility to use
That was a sh#% show by Mal. I can't believe he tested the NBA as a prospect.
I am becoming more impressed with Glock. That ws a nice running floater he made and making those two pressured foul shots at the end were huge. Grant needs to tell him to take more shots, even three pointers. I believe he can give us 10-12 points if became aggressive offensively

Jaeden Zackery took a circuitous route but has found his place with BC basketball

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK

Jaeden Zackery took a circuitous route but has found his place with BC basketball

By Trevor Hass Globe Correspondent,Updated November 28, 2022, 5:54 p.m.

Whenever Jaeden Zackery needs to be inspired, all he has to do is think back to a video on his phone that shows the top 15 recruits in Wisconsin in 2019.
The other 14 players drew Division 1 interest, but Zackery, a 6-foot-2-inch guard from Westosha Central, couldn’t say the same.
“That tests you. It puts you down,” Zackery said. “You’ll be like, ‘Am I really good at basketball? Do I just settle?’ ”
His parents reminded him he should never settle. Three years later, he’s glad he listened.
Zackery showed promise at the prep school Scotland Campus in Pennsylvania, blossomed into an All-American at the JUCO school Chipola College in Florida, and eventually found a home at Boston College.

Last season, he started all 33 games as a freshman and averaged 10.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals while shooting 47.7 percent from 3-point range. This year, he’s a sophomore leader putting up 11.6 points a night on a 5-2 team hoping to make its first NCAA Tournament since 2009.

“He’s coming from a unique position, coming from a JUCO and bursting onto the scene right away,” BC freshman Prince Aligbe said. “He knows what it can feel like, day in and day out, the adjustment.”

Zackery focused on both basketball and baseball growing up, but once he got to high school, he started to prioritize basketball. He emerged as an all-state point guard and wondered why colleges didn’t believe in his future as much as he did.
He decided to take the prep route, where he met current teammate DeMarr Langford Jr. at a national tournament. Zackery impressed on a grand stage, but COVID hit, which curbed the momentum he was finally starting to build and prevented him from visiting any campuses.
Zackery “lost everything,” he said, and it felt like déjà vu as he mulled over his limited options.

“That whole summer, I wasn’t talking to any schools,” he said. “I wasn’t talking to anybody. I didn’t know what I was going to do. I was just kind of at a standstill. I really had nothing. It was just like high school. It was another test.”
Junior college seemed like the best opportunity, so Zackery took another leap and moved to Florida. He credits Chipola coach Donnie Tyndall for raising his confidence and allowing him to unlock his potential. Zackery helped Chipola win a conference and state title and reach the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association semifinals.
Division 1 schools finally started to take notice, including Boston College. When Zackery spoke with Eagles coach Earl Grant on Zoom, he told his parents that was all he needed. He was done with the recruiting process and decided to commit that same day.
Zackery expected to play 8-10 minutes a game off the bench as a freshman and was stunned when he started every game and averaged 35 minutes a night.

Nearly every morning, he looked in the mirror and reminded himself he belonged. As he saw results manifest, he started to truly believe it.
Grant referred to him as “a rock” for the Eagles. It’s a perfect fit between a gritty player, coach, and program that all have something to prove. Zackery views Grant as a father figure and someone he leans on, and it’s clear the admiration is mutual.

Zackery, a shifty and pesky combo guard with a reliable stroke, prides himself on making opposing guards miserable. He watches Jalen Brunson and Fred VanVleet highlights regularly and has learned how to
use his lack of height to his advantage.
Zackery has taken a circuitous route, but he’s found stability at BC.
“It’s crazy to think, because in high school I never would have thought I’d be here,” Zackery said. “This is the last place I would have ever thought I’d be. Now that I’m here, it’s a dream come true.”

Take Care - I just want to Thank You All

Despite this being the worst season/football I’ve ever watched.
You all kept it fun. Thanks for letting me be me and letting me joke about all of your wives.

This is beyond horrible football/football experience. Half the stadium concessions closed today I heard and was a mess for the people who came to support a 3-7 team to even get a drink.

With no affiliation to this school, I’m not sure they deserve so much of my attention or money anymore.
