Thamel Update

He just put this out a little while ago. Obviously, he knows BC well and I consider him the best in the business. I still trust my sources believe BOB is the next guy. I believe BC isn't fond of word getting out so quickly and easily, so they called final meetings with O'Brien "interviews" to throw people off the scent.

Also, in person interviews starting on Tuesday doesn't add up as I've heard BOB has been around since Friday. What the hell would they have been doing the last four days? I was told Friday he was the main target and ball was in BC's court Saturday night. So, either now there's a disagreement about who the guy should be and they really are going to talk to other candidates still, or they're just trying to get people off it until it's actually finalized.

Time will tell if I was lied to for four days or what!

Castellanos next head coach?

He was sitting baseline in front of the media table on Tuesday night. Rich Thompson and I asked him who the next HC is and he jokingly said "I'm going to be the next head coach."

If (when) BOB takes the job, it's too late in the winter in my opinion to give him a whole new language offensively. Spring ball is in like a month and a half-ish. Find out what he likes best and let him run the show. I don't mean literally, obviously he'll have an OC, but my point is that might not be that far fetched of a statement on Castellanos' part the longer this drags out. I know this is all on Lahey's 'process' but the quicker the better for everyone involved if they want to seriously compete this season. It's going to be mid-to-late February by the time whoever the head coach ends up being (O'Brien) meets his team for the first time.

NIL

This is obviously where college sports are going. BC has a very successful alumni network, although younger than some networks. How do we get the casual BC alumni/fan to get involved? Don’t say win, because that’s a chicken and the egg argument. I’ve been challenging the development department and they don’t have a great answer. This is a tipping point in college athletics, and I want to be on the right side to watch meaningful football and basketball for decades to come.

Side question… does an Ivy League team ever just buy a starting 5 for hoops and if so, who?
