Hardo BC "Cops"

Thought some of you might find this amusing...

As usual I left my usual note at practice this morning after parking out in front of Alumni. Said I'd be gone by 11/11:30. Got back out there and saw a ticket. No charge, but this clown wrote "next time" and circled it like a big dog.

No classes obviously and lot was maybe 1/4 full when I pulled in, 1/2 full when I left. Absolute loser. Hadn't had a problem the first five practices. Can already tell I'm gonna get in a parking war this year and this is my free place to vent.

I'll be keeping you all posted with how many I end up getting this season refusing to pay in the garage. Now it's just the principle of it.

NFL Offseason 2024

Thought we could use a thread for NFL offseason moves...

Rent is due for the Bills. Cut their whole secondary of White, Poyer, and their center Morse. Not expected to resign Gabe Davis. Can't afford all these guys with Allen making a gazillion dollars

Also I think AJ is gonna get cut by the Pack. 3.4 ypc is not gonna cut it.

Chat with Matty Ice

Had the pleasure of meeting Matt for the first time today at Pats camp. He stayed the entire practice and intently watched every part of it. He chatted with David Andrews for a bit after and had a lengthy conversation with Austin Hooper.

What I thought would be just a quick handshake and 'hey how are ya?' turned into 15 minutes of 2024 BC talk. He's one of the nicest humans on the planet.

Here are some takeaways.

-Believes Billy O's ability to recruit locally will be huge. Having the guy who's actually from here and can mean what he says when it comes to bringing BC back can't be overstated.
-Thinks this receiver room is as deep if not deeper than when he played in Chestnut Hill. Maybe the deepest ever.
-Told me a story about him breaking his foot at home against VT and still wanting to play because backup was very good (I forget the name) and he didn't want to lose his job. This came up talking about James pushing TC and TC's competitiveness.
-Should be around a few different times this season. He's around this weekend for 10-year anniversary of Ice Bucket Challenge (that's absurd it's been 10 years already) & a charity golf tourney for Sean McDonough.
-Believes BC will gain more attention, but well aware they have to earn it from the fan base and nationally.
-Hafley was open to alums coming back, but only when it fit the schedule. BOB will basically have open door policy for former players if they want it.

Loved talking to him, very genuine guy who is just as excited as the fans for this season to start. Hoping to get him on The New England Football Show sometime soon.

(OT) Remembering the Fung Wah days

Knew someone who would catch the first bus out of NYC on Saturday and make it to the campus for the start of tailgating. He swore he once sat next to a woman who was carrying a live chicken.

Who else wants to cruise in the Fung Wah bus?

Some highlights:

One of my friends from Hong Kong was riding the Fung Wah bus years ago and sitting up front near the driver. He was talking on the phone in Cantonese and saying something like, “<<Yeah, the door isn’t staying shut. Yeah, I’ll deal with it once I get to New York.>>”

Sitting near the front to watch the drivers was always entertaining. Driving at light speed while scrolling through their phone and blasting the horn at any slight inconvenience. Turning a four hour trip into three and a half while somehow also parking at a highway Burger King for 20 minutes halfway through. Stepping out into Chinatown nowhere near a subway station. What a time.

One story I like to tell is on our way to NYC, we stopped at a rest stop with a McDs. Driver gets out and provides no instruction. A few people shrug and get out to go to the restroom/eat. 5 min later the bus driver’s back, doesn’t do a headcount, starts up the bus and leaves. Anyone that got off was stranded. Insane.
(and the reply)
Oh you mean the McD’s in Rockville wasn’t your final destination? It was a thing to slip the driver a few bucks and request your rest stop in CT to get a cheap ride back to Tolland/Hartford county.

(OT) Cancer Sucks

You guys have been awesome and generously donated to my Pan-Mass Challenge ride the past few years. The PMC is next weekend and I will be riding my bike from Sturbridge to Provincetown over two days to raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). This is the first time that I will be staring in Sturbridge. It will be a 109 mile ride from Sturbridge to Mass Maritime next Saturday and then 77 miles to Provincetown on Sunday. 100% of all money donated goes to cancer research and care at DFCI.

Thank you to WinningEagle for his donation.

This is the link to my donation page: https://profile.pmc.org/TF0155

Last year I dedicated my ride to the memory of Patrick Nash one of my best friends from BC. Pat died from pancreatic cancer in November 2022. Pat will be on my mind while I ride along with a good friend who was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. I will be riding with two friends whose wives are being treated at Dana-Farber for multiple myeloma.
