High School Basketball

Went to two high school basketball games today. Girls Division A CMAD Championship between Worcester South and Nashoba. South won in a tight finish. Second game was Boys Division A CMAD Championship between Worcester North and Nashoba. North ran away by 20 points.

Five dollars for two very entertaining games. What value.

State championships start this week.

Portal philosophy and results

So for this past portal "year", here are the material additions. Other than Cuse, we did the least in the portal during the offseason. Makes me wonder how much of that was Earl striking out on guys or Earl not selling the minutes well enough considering he had 4 starters returning. My Wake buddy says they haven't spent anything material in NIL dollars on their portal guys over the past two years. They sold them on minutes and playing in an offense that gets good looks. Makes you wonder if Earl thought he had better talent than he has.

Pure cover corner Cameron Keys wants to visit

Cameron Keys is a cornerback prospect from Florida who told me this week that Boston College is a visit that he definitely wants to work out.

The 6'0, 165-pound corner from Panama City (Fla.) A.C. Mosley plays for the C3 Elite 7v7 team and is a pure cover corner who can really run. I mean he can fly and guys with coverage skills like that don't grow on trees.

He's started to get more SEC offers - recently from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Missouri, and Vanderbilt, but Boston College offered right before that latest onslaught and he has real interest in BC.

In fact when I spoke with Keys this week, he mentioned possible upcoming visits to Boston College, UCF, and Missouri. The two trips he has planned for now are Tennessee (3/23) and Vanderbilt (3/25) so it's a two-for-one trip to the Volunteer State. Would be a big deal to get him on campus before or after that because I think Keys is really going to see his stock continue to climb as the process goes on.

Curious about the crowd for No. 6 Virginia

Does everyone think it will be a packed house student section wise at Conte tonight? Just saw the giveaway and it's pretty sick (bomber hat and long sleeve MBB t-shirt), looking forward to seeing/hearing what it's like. Only "big game" feel there this season was Duke and that was mostly because of all the blue Tatum jerseys in the house. Didn't get to Syracuse, but it did sound pretty good on TV. Just trying to get a feel of where the fan base is at heading into this one. I sneaky think it's at least close down the stretch
