Chesney

So what do you guys think of him as a candidate?

He called a good game and got his team up to play. Especially coming out of the lightning break they steamrolled us and likely would've won the game if not for the fumble. He's 46 which is at the higher end of the age range I'd prefer, but within it. And he's obviously done a great job building HC as a program.

My concern is that he has no experience whatsoever coaching or even playing at a FBS let alone P5 level...Holy Cross is actually the only D1 school he's coached at. Most of his resume is in D2/3. I didn't go through every assistant on his staff but his coordinators also have limited high level experience; DC Scott James was a grad assistant at BC in 03-04 (under Spaz....yay) and has no other FBS experience, OC Dean Kennedy spent a year as an on-field assistant QB coach at Florida and was a quality control assistant there and a grad assistant at Mississippi State.

I'd bring Chesney in for an interview for sure assuming his team has another good season, but I question whether he has the network to build a staff that can compete in the ACC. You can get around his own lack of high level experience if he has the connections to build a staff who has that experience, but I see no evidence that he does. I think he deserves an interview but gun to head and obviously knowing no more than their resumes, I think I'd rather have a young successful P5 assistant like Liam Coen or Sheronne Moore.

Halftime thoughts from the press box

1. Hard not to like what Catsellanos has done today. Full command of the offense and some absolute dimes, particularly to Williams down the right sideline.
2. Sluka does this to everyone. He's arguably the best QB in all of FCS and it's more about his ability and willingness to put a shoulder into someone than it is about BC's inability to tackle.
3. Eagles need to stay locked into the running game. They're dominating up front when given the opportunity and creating huge holes.
4. The moronic penalties on the kick off are exactly what Hafley (and everyone) has talked about not having. Legitimately handed HC points there. It's been a problem his entire tenure. At least the pre-snap penalties have mostly subsided so far.
5. Impressed with Liam Connor so far. Kid's been automatic so far whether it's PAT's or FG's.
6. HC isn't going away, BC's going to have to step on the gas.
7. Awesome atmosphere with the crowd today. New England football at its best. Still way too friggin hot for September though.

What would the final record of BC

Have to be for you to think the best course of action is for BC to bring Hafley back. The rules of the game are simple. One, you do not get to say anything is impossible even if it is. Two, there is a number that will absolutely should get him fired. 2-10. Three, there is absolutely a number that will keep him at BC. 11-1 gets him a parade. Where do you stand?
I believe 7-5 should bring him back. Most likely, that means beating UConn, Army and 4-4 in the ACC. That means they got a lot better.
Play by the rules @TheGuru

**Predict BC's 2023 Record - Winner gets $15 gift card to Panera Bread**

With the OL injury woes behind us, an improved OL, a new offensive weapon in Ryan O'Keefe, a fresh starting QB with the possibility of a QB wrinkle that has 4.35 speed. I once again am falling victim to preseason optimism I have every year. With that said, lets predict BCs record with a Panera Gift Card on the line.
