Sorry for not keeping this in-thread but you apparently can't put a poll in an ongoing thread so don't blame me blame Rivals.

Thoughts For The Coming Season

I want to express my thoughts on basketball team with the opener a week away

The Backcourt: It doesn't bother me too much that we lost Zach and Harris. I truly believe that we weren't going to the NCAA's because of their limitations that has been taslked about endlessly.. It appears that D. Brown can do a lot of things well that will help level off the loss of Zach and Harris. I have no faith in Kelly being our point guard after the s- -t show he put on last year. I am hoping that this frosh Towes breaks out or Payne to lead the point.

Front court: Losing Glock really hurt. Strong brings energy and had his moments. If he can be consistent it would be a huge lift for the team. I feel Hand can be a contributor for the team. He's quick, can create fouls and is a decent shooter. The only thing, he needs to get stronger to handle the the three position. I like what I see of Venning. If he is some what as productive as Burns[NCSU], it would soften the lost of Q. Post
Bench: Our bench last year was not very productive last year .It was made up of Kelly, Prince, and Mighty. [I rest my case] I think with the replacements Hastings, McFarlene, Beadle, and the freshmen. will be a big improvement compared to last year.

Prediction: I believe this team will not make the NCAA's this year. I do believe that there's some talent here. I'm wishing a couple of players have breakout years [Strong,Hand] Grant can develop a productive point guard [Towes, Payne] If our bench contributes, we can win more games and get to the 500 mark for the season. In summary, lot of pieces have to come together to make it a successful season.

Go BC

***Louisville Cardinals vs Boston College Eagles game thread***

Well here we are, 6 quarters of getting their god damn ass kicked. This group seems to like it a lot. Wouldn't hate to see this group learn to give it out every once in a while, tonight would be a nice start to try and salvage this stretch of games in Oct.

Not necessarily needed to pump you up just from the jukebox I am spinning pregame.

Post that summarizes the mood from Ville tonight

Cards opened at - 6 1/2 on Tuesday. Has now moved to -7 1/2, and some Casinos have the Cards at - 8. Total hovers at 53 1/2. A 1 to 1 /2 point moves usually signals a key player that to be out, is now going play. from I have read that could be Isaac Brown who was questionable for the Cards. Not going to be easy, but IMO Card win by 10 points. The best play is the Over 54 IMO. Cards have been over that number in 5 of it's 7 games. BC offense is decent, and the Cards defense has struggled lately. Cards will need to score 34 points to win, and BC will score 24 points making my Total 58 nicely over the number! Go Cards!!

A lot of things need to improve.

Understatement certainly but off the top of my head, it starts with BOB.

He is an offensive guy, a lot of the blame is going on Lawing HOF handpicked OC. I imagine BOB has input on the offense. There is no system or identity. I thought they wanted to be a running offense. They get away from it, and as cited here numerous times, specifically Ward. The personnel packages are confusing. Why so much Montague, why no Bradley at the end, or at all. The plays to Bond aren’t working.

I thought there was a lot of talent in the WR room. Either they aren’t as good as we thought or they can’t get schemed to get open but they were the worst positional unit on the field tonight, special teams excepted. Couldn’t get open all night.

They just didn’t seem to have a plan in place on how to play with a big lead, and certainly no plan on how to run a 2 min offense. That looked deploreable.

Operations at the end of the half continues to stink. Given their passing limitations tonight I don’t strongly disagree with them sitting on it. However they did a brutal job managing it. They could have run the clock out before running the third down play. Instead they snap with about 10 seconds left. Makes no sense. You are running a dive. You are not trying to score. Why risk (a) a turnover, or (b) Louisville calling a timeout and making your Barnum & Bailey punt team come on. Which Loiusville absolutely should have done.

The punting was awful by BC tonight, but equally bad by Loiuisville.

Huge penalty on Montague kick return. Instead of the 40, it goes to our 10. We punt. They get good field position, and score a TD.

When Louisville jumped offside on our punt and it went from 3rd and 6 to 3rd and one, I think because we were at our own 30, I still think we should have punted, but I don’t think BOB has a chance to even think about things because he was too busy red assing the ref.

He needs to be a lot better at the fine coaching details. A lot better.

Halftime thoughts from high above Alumni

-Statistically, it wasn't anything crazy (yards are 188-181 in favor of Louisville and BC had just 7 first downs to the Cardinals' 10), but it felt better after the first quarter. The two touchdowns on 4th downs by Lawing were impressive creativity and well-timed calls. Credit where it's due.

-Having said that, not pushing for points with 3 timeouts and 1:17 on the clock after Louisville scored is mind boggling and might come back to bite them in the ass.

-BC has 103 yards rushing (only 78 passing) and absolutely need to keep that going with Ward and Robichaux.

-I think I severely overrated the receivers at the start of the year because watching plays develop up high, they just absolutely can't get any separation.

-Still only one FG attempt on the season and Connor shanked the PAT. The lack of FG experience and reps is going to bite them in the ass eventually, just not sure when.

-Love seeing Morales involved. Need to get him the ball more, he's basically an untapped weapon still.

-Great job by the student section packing the place early tonight and there was definitely a different vibe on the field pregame with some of the music.

-I still don't trust them to close this out unless they actually stick to the run. Louisville should be tied at the very least but penalties have killed them.

-Mind boggling - after telling us they worked on returns this week - that McGowan just refuses to take balls back when he catches them at the 5 or 10. Really need more out of special teams.
