UConn looking like a 2-peat

Very impressive UConn team blew out #4 ranked Marquette by 28 yesterday. Yes, played in Hartford at the XL Center with 15,500 in attendance. Big home court advantage, but it was not close. My favorite to repeat with the Natty. Elite defense, elite offense, well coached. The base offense with the back door screen resulted in numerous lay ups again and again. Simple but beautiful. Hurley building a dynasty in Duke like fashion. If they stay healthy will be a tough out.

Nice Win…

But has BC ever had a coach who knew how to coach defense - because Grant sure sure as hell doesn’t. Defense wins games. My mother could get open looks from 3 against BC. I just don’t get it - Donahue’s and Christian’s teams were puke worthy (for lack of a more technical term) and Grant looks like more of the same. It’s like watching the ‘85 Denver Nuggets who completely ignored defense and just tried to out score teams. What’s frustrating is this team has talent, but that talent is being wasted by lazy defense. I want guys in their opponent’s shorts the length of the court, but I’d settle for general proximity when the other team takes a 3.

I’m thinking Skinner (or maybe Cooley) was the closest thing BC has had to being a good defensive coach in the last 30 years.

There’s no grit here, and it ain’t all that pretty.

Apologies for the rant but I’ve been watching the same sh!t for 30 years.

Rounding up BC's latest offers under O'Brien

Not a lot of new offers have gone out since O'Brien was picked for the job. Typically the first week is about roster evaluation. But a few have gone out.

Texas WR pipeline, New York OT with strong academics, and an in-state kid.

Tourney Bracket Preparation

I am always checking other NCAA teams to prepare for my tourney bracket. Last month, I would have believed Duke was going to be one and done. However, when I watch their freshman guard McCain lit up FSU for 35 points. His shooting stroke was so quick and NBAish. He was unstoppable. That changed my whole assumption on Duke. They are definitely going to make a deep run in the NCAA tourney. So that's my tip for all u tourney bracket players!
