TC to the portal

Can confirm. The Northeast Rivals guy (Ryan O'Bleness) threw something together since I was down in Foxborough when sh*t hit the fan again. I thought Castellanos would at least wait until after the weekend. I'll have something up on O'Brien's Zoom presser today shortly, but it was obviously before the news broke.

Interesting matchup vs the pups in Storrs tomorrow night

Tomorrow night's gave vs UConn will be interesting in terms of how BC shows up. On paper BC is the far superior team and if they show up ready to play should be able to handle the pups we relative ease. Upon is a solid team with some good wins and some head scratching losses, but will treat this game like it is for the natty. From a coaching standpoint it can be hard to rally your team vs. a team that everyone expects you to beat -- especially after coming off a grueling stretch of games vs top comp. Really tough to avoid a let down in this kind of situation and to see your team play down to the level of comp. However it is also a great opportunity to get a better sense of the team leaders and the mindset of the group overall (especially with a team so young). If BC does get up for the game and comes out firing that will be an impressive feat by Brown, and say a lot about the players. I think this team has the potential to be better than last year's team (maybe not quite so explosive on O, but better on D and in net). Rolling the pups in Storrs would be another solid data point pointing to that outcome. My prediction -- BC 5 - 1.

Halftime thoughts vs. SMU

-Told you he's a better passer. Pick aside (poor throw), he's made some throws TC simply couldn't, especially with pressure in his face.

-The tight ends actually exist with him.

-Can't get away from the running game. Feels like they are a bit, which, for take purposes I love, let the kid sling it 50 times, But, can't get away from Robichaux, even if they still refuse to use Ward.

-Pass rush HAS to continue getting to Jennings. Ezeiruaku's near sack was just an absurdly freakish athletic play by him. The INT was an example of what I talked about in the 3 keys, any QB is a pick waiting to happen if you can rattle him. I think they've done a pretty good job overall defensively against this speed, but the D-line has to make Jennings rush his decisions and wrap up when they do flush him.

-Smith is just stupid fast, but the long run before the half was way too similar to the V-Tech game. The end of halves in general continue to be a MASSIVE issue since I think the Michigan State game.

-Again, these DB's are good, but the not turning your head around thing is wild.

-Crouch is a LB so I get it, but no one is covering Smith in the open field.

-I've never seen a special teams unit that's this bad. Literally, never. And I've covered 0-8 vs. 0-8 high school football. They punted better.

-James keeps you in this game as long as you score coming out of the half. If SMU has a chance to step on the gas and get guys feeling deflated then you're screwed.

Todays Globe Did Springfield Central Isaiah Rogers commit to BC as per the Globe have story below? Coach Dibs was Central a couple of weeks ago

BC High 41, Springfield Central 36
Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at Boston
With a 74-yard kickoff return right off the bat for Adam Ayyub, the Eagles (8-1) kept a lead for the remainder of the contest and secured the quarterfinals win. Carter Carroll tossed a 17-yard scoring pass to Matty Duddy and ran for two short-distance touchdowns. On the back of BC-bound Isaiah Rogers, the Golden Eagles rattled off 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to make it a four-point game. But Carroll's sneak in the waning minutes kept the score just out of reach, giving BC High enough of a buffer to withstand a last-minute score by the visiting Eagles.

Pitching a perfect game:

When you are 18.5 point underdogs a lot of things have to go right…and even then you need some good fortune. Things BC needs to do today.

1. Run the ball. Don’t be in a hurry. No uptempo.

2. Keep SMU offense off the field.

3. Tackle in space. SMU is going to throw a lot of balls at the line of scrimmage suggesting their athletes are better than ours. Need to be aggressive and tackle. Those can’t turn into 12-13 yard gains and 2nd and 2’s.

4. Just be average in the kicking game. 35-40 yard punts. Below average but not killers. Make extra points and field goals inside of 40 yards.

5. Need two SMU turnovers.

6. Don’t fall down 14-0 quickly. Don’t turn this into a game where James is dropping back 30 plus times.

Criticizing College Athletes?

I have long been reluctant to criticize college athletes as they have been student-athletes who were just receiving a free education, some food and lodging, and athletic training in return for their athletic performance for the school and fans.

In the new world of NIL deals and every athlete being a potential free agent the next year (or month or week) for whatever cash they can get, I feel much more free to comment negatively on their athletic performance.

The well paid coaches have always been fair game for whatever comments.

How do others feel?

Game #3: Temple at Boston College 11/15/2024

Time: 7pm

TV: ACCNX/ESPN+

Line: BC -1.5

Kenpom: Temple 74-73

What I am looking for: Whether the VCU defense was that good (possible) and a bad matchup. Or is the grossest thing I have ever witnessed live so bad (possible). As stated before, BC was +2 (not garbage time minutes) when Toews ran the show.

Will bshay21 bet this?: Of course.

Bet: BC -9.5. +320. 1 unit.

Year Long BC basketball betting record: (0-2). - 2 units.

Why?: BC has a history of these type games. Lost back to back last year in the OOC then beat Vandy by 18 on the road. I just have a hard time believing we won't see a better Dion Brown and DHJ with Toews out there. Or Chas tries to break the record of most consecutive minutes of scoreless basketball to open a season in BC history, we're down 12 at half, and the grim reaper has just been notified of a dead season.

Glock yesterday

Rubbing salt in the wound … I know.

Vandy beat SE Missouri State yesterday, 85-76. Glock played 26 mins. Had 14 pts, 4 blocks and 19 rebounds. 11 of those 19 rebounds were offensive rebounds. I’m not sure I’ve seen someone have double digit offensive rebounds in a game in a while.

And the dude is 6-7. Albeit with a long wingspan.

He’s earning his NIL through 2 games.
