RB Gideon Ituka Has Four Officials In Mind

Big situation to watch. Coveted back here, loved his time at BC recently and will return for an official. Will also plan officials for Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Cincinnati.

OT: 2023 MLB Season

Still love baseball even though it's harder and harder to catch regular season games. The best playoff sport with hockey.

1. Any Opening Day memories? I had a buddy who was on the board of the Babe Ruth museum Camden Yards (cool place actually). They'd have all you can eat pit beef and all you can drink beer before the game. Very few actual memories because of the all you can drink aspect other than one year I was sitting as snow poured down into the stadium. Then my oldest was born and hindered getting blind drunk at midweek activities for a while.

2. Any bets? Took Red Sox to win division (+1800 with a promo boosted to +2700). Last four times they finished last, the next year they went win world series, last place, lose ALDS, lose ALCS the next year. 78 wins last year despite 400 things being awful, injured, and/or bad decisions. Exciting to see some of the young guys.

3. And, of course, for the Mets fan in your life...

4. Any wild favorite teams out there like Royals fans or Dbacks?

5. Eff the Yankees. Hard to hate as much in a much more antiseptic era of baseball but, well, I'll find the hate.

6. Wherever greenarthur is, I hope he's cursing JD Drew's contract.

Let's go Sox

OT Northwesterns new stadium

Article in the WSJ sounds very familiar to BC/Newton but I loved this part:

Mr. Starkman, who is 56, said complaints about fans urinating on lawns and bushes after games are exaggerated and happen only when Northwestern hosts Ohio State.

Wisconsin fans party very hard but are “nice and respectful,” he said; Michigan State fans are “brilliant, lots of doctors and judges”; Michigan supporters are “ruffians” but generally well behaved; Iowa’s are the friendliest in the Big Ten, and Nebraska’s fans are the most likely to arrive in pickups.

“Ohio State fans are the only problem,” Mr. Starkman said. “They have a monster following, and they think the world is their bathroom.”

Asked about that, Ohio State declined to comment.

2023-2024 Roster

We have a lot of openings!!
Scholarships
1) SR Madsen 8) FR Payne G
2) JR Zachary G 9) FR Hastings C
3) SO McGlockton F 10__________________
4) R-FR Hand G 11 __________________
5) SO Kelley G 12 _________________
6) SO Aligbe F 13___________________
7) SO Mighty C Possible Returns 1) Post (prayers) 2) Pehna (does Earl want back/out of eligibility?) 3) Strong

This roster is a disaster as currently constituted. If Post doesn't come back we are in big time trouble and might be anyways. Im thinking they need at least two strong transfer contributors. This coupled with huge jumps by our sophomore class might give us a chance. That being said I was expecting much better play from our returnees (MAL, DL, JZ). I didn't see a lot of growth in their games. Reeves is going to have to sit out a year if he people have him pencilled in.

BC family needs help

Hey everyone - I hate to do these kinds of things but a classmate (and one of my best friends) can use your help.

My friend Nicole’s parents met at bc and all of her siblings went there or are still students there, an incredible family who has been through a lot through the years, including losing their father.

Nicole’s mom had a severe stroke a few weeks ago and is in the throes of recovering, however, her insurance isn’t paying for any more in-patient care (which is critical in the first weeks after a stroke). Her family had been dealing with this internally until this week, so that they can raise money to continue mrs yoons treatment. If you have some time and a few bucks to spare, I’d really appreciate a few eagles helping another eagle. Thanks fellas.

Went to practice today at the Heights

Took the day off and went to BC for some professional development. (Watched practice lol) They were very welcoming and happy to have me. Talked to a few of the coaches while I was there. Haf came over and spoke briefly with me. I want these guys to win so bad because they seem like such nice guys.

Out of respect for the staff I don’t want want to comment on their schemes in detail. I’ll try to drop a few nuggets though.

Practice was 9:30-11:30ish. Full pads. No tackling but guys were blocking/laying thuds.

They did a ton of short period sessions with like 5-10 mins on the clock and then they would jump from one session to the next. You can tell the kids are used to what is going on at this point because everything seemed to go smoothly from an organizational standpoint. Each position group kinda had their own routine. Good competition in drills between the OL/DL and the Dbs/Wrs. Many of these “sessions” were situational football. 3rd and short, 3rd and med, 3rd and long, nickel, empty, special teams, etc.

Things/players that stood out:

- certain guys just look like dudes and for me the guys that dont look like the others physically are:
Taji
Griffin
Arnold
Steele
Ozzy
The transfer RB (maybe cuz all the others are so short lol)
Ezeiruaku (spelling)
Moorehead

These guys all look like monsters.

notes:
I was mostly with the O so only saw the D guys during team stuff.

Qb: Moorehead looks the part. He does get into trouble with his footwork at times and that hurts his accuracy. When his feet are right he looks great. I thought he looked good. Robinson sure looked like the backup to me in terms of reps. I have been critical of his offer. I still am not sold but he does have talent. He has a rocket arm but he is making a bunch mistakes out there. Might turn into something long term. Also important to remember that its like his 8th college practice so confusion is expected. Rueve was 3rd.

RB: looked like garwo/broome with the 1s and the transfer with the 2s. Im sure he is behind in the playbook just like the frosh. Pass blocking drills were good to see. Broome is so good at it using his leverage. Low man wins most of the time and he’s 5’6. He is very thick so even at his size i think he could handle a big workload. Garwo had some nice runs today. He looked better than last year. Transfer kid absolutely stuck a kid blitzing today. Good to see. He also broke a long one off in team session right up the gut.

Wr: i think a bunch of guys must be injured or gone. Griffin was there but only did some drills and no team stuff. The first 3 were Taji/Williams/Tomlin. Taji had a few nice catches today and is just so damn big that I think he could be a monster after the catch. Tomlin continues to make plays. He is not big or overly fast. He just makes 3rd down plays consistently. Reminds of troy brown in that sense. Must be a coach’s kid. They rotated wrs with the 1s pretty much every play. The next 3 in were Bond/Reynolds/Zamor. Bond looks sharp to me. I think he could be an explosive slot wr. I hope he gets some action this year.

Bizarrely, they had one of the walk on qbs and Delaportas running 2nd team wr all day during team periodsnor 7v7. They did qb drills with the QBs but then they were basically the wrs everytime Robinson was qb with the 2s. I think this sorta sucks for all involved. Not fair to robinson to not have wrs. Not fair to the qbs competiting. Maybe it was a one day thing to get more reps with moorehead for the 2s. Needless to say the 2nd string O was awful all day with no wr threats and the backup line we saw last year and a frosh qb 8 practices in.

OL:
They looked much better than last year. It was Ozzy/Connolly/kendall/Hergel/Bowry i believe. Couple big boys were banged up but were running on the side. Mahogany did some drills. Great to see him back. Hergel is not 6’2. I would say 6 feet but he is a fire hydrant and very quick. I think he will help but struggle vs the bigger guys. He plays like a pit bull so that is good to see. He also took reps at center. Maybe insurance if Kendall shows up weighing 280 in the fall. Bowry is tall and long. He looks good to me. The dline got the better of the oline during 3rd and long session but its pretty much an auto pass and a huge edge for the d. They also really took it to the offense the 1st half hour of practice overall. Later on the O fought back and made plays. The line made some nice holes for garwo and were consistently moving the ball as the day went on.

Transfers: Eye opener of the day for me was Victor Nelson. He is big and fast. One play hergel was pulling on the edge and Nelson came flying up and smoked him to force the play inside. It was a great play to take on a guard like that. He also is always flying around everywhere. No plays off

Washington: he was the starting cb opposite jones. He looks like a player. Also made some very smart plays out there. Must be a Harvard grad.

TE: tackacks was getting some time off in. The team stuff but looked smooth in drills. Franklin is short and stout but seems like the best blocker of the bunch. I like Gordinier. I am surprised he has not done more. He is big and fast.

Thats all I got. Been on my daughters floor in the pitch black for an hour writing this lol
