With an effective passing game and a complementary running game, this could be a very special year. Unfortunately, we have the former but not the latter. The running game does not lack talent but the veteran players are having difficulty adjusting to zone blocking. I am not a fan of zone blocking. I recall that it was an issue early in Jag's regime. Perhaps, it can be effective , but why try to impose it immediately on veteran players, particularly in the OL, who are comfortable with a different scheme and who have been productive in the past . The coach has a right to adopt zone blocking but he should have waited until there is adequate practice time for the adjustment and until his recruits are in place.
