In looking at drafting kids out of college, the NBA primarily looks at two things: your current ability and your potential.

Looking at Jerome today, he is an All ACC two guard who was second in for Player of the Year. He is 6-6 and can score from three point range, mid range, driving the hoop and the foul line. He is a complete offensive player. He was team captain his sophomore and junior years and is clearly the team leader. He never says anything inappropriate, goes to class and is a good citizen. He appears to play decent defense, get rebounds and steps in as a point guard if necessary. Basically, I think he checks out as to current ability. While he is not know for his defense as much as other things, this maybe because he is using so much energy as the team's go to person on offense.

Determining potential is much harder than looking at a players current status but this is maybe the intriguing part about Jerome. In looking back at his high school tapes, he was listed at 6-2 and 150 pounds as recently as 2015.

His late growth spurt helps explain the four North Carolina ACC schools failure to recruit our star player. This along with his great work ethic, has helped him development into a star player at BC. Today, he is 6-6 and 195 pounds or so. Along with this, his stats have continued to improve throughout his three years at BC. All this suggest, Jerome still has some serious upside.

By the way, should he stay at BC, he is should be the ACC Player of the Year next year. After all, he has never had the supporting cast like next year's team should offer. Particularly with Hamilton and Hawkins at the three and the four, he and Bowman will have two stars to play off of who will only make them better.
