Highlights from Addazio's weekly show...

*** Feels like players had some real "zip" today. Notes opening day can be funky as it was in the Florida-Miami game. Nobody planned on 20 penalties and all those missed tackles. That's what BC is focused on right now. Team with fewest penalties, mistakes and turnovers will probably win the game. They're rehearsing the 2-minute drill and 4-minute drill to make sure they're ready for everything.

*** Hoping that BC's conditioning pays off late in the game. Want to get them on the perimeter, run nakeds, stretch the field and run sideline to sideline and them. They're confident they have the conditioning to have an advantage in that scenario.

*** The risk in playing tempo is you have a young defense, why not protect them? Addazio said he feels like they need to be explosive. People didn't realize they were third in the conference in explosive plays. He's committed to explosiveness even with those concerns with a young defense. 12 yard run, 16 yard play qualifies as an explosive. He thinks if they can spread and stretch the field it will be very difficult to tackle a 250-pound running back.

*** Dillon was healthy for only four games. You can get beat up good, take a lot of helmets in the low part of the body. The difference this year is David Bailey is more mature, Levy is no slouch, Garwo is a big guy, too. Says David Bailey is going to play a bunch and is bigger than AJ with tremendous hands. Doesn't have AJ's straight line speed.

*** No carry max for Dillon against VT. "If he's running good he can carry it 30, 35 times".

*** Accuracy, complete knowledge of what's happening on the field, body language and leadership, not flinching - things that the staff has really worked on with Anthony Brown. Says he hasn't had a third year starting quarterback since he's been there and why they are very optimistic.

*** He knew Zay Flowers was a special player when he went and watched him play basketball, said he never saw feet like that.
