Met a Notre Dame guy at the Raw Bar in New Seabury after a charity golf event. Good guy, has two sons that want to stay local for college, wants them to go to BC. Big into ND football.
I asked him what he thought about NIL. He told me at first he was scared shit that ND would not participate, because of focus on academics, etc. but is thrilled to see it’s been completely the opposite. He said ND Admin is 100% all in and embracing NIL, and will use it extensively to its advantage. Said from the President on down, ND understands that athletic success is a huge component of the school’s branding and success.
Said he donated to ND annually (not a huge amount) and he gets emails from ND with bios and videos of top recruits they really want, asking him to donate money to help land that recruit. He said he is on a massive list of ND alumni who get these emails. Said he and other alumni he knows absolutely love it. I asked him how often he gets these emails and he said at least 10 a month.
