Andover tight end Alex Marshall has been rated the top-ranked player in Massachusetts by Rivals.com for quite some time now even with the emergence of players like Danny Dalton and Sean McKeon. Sources close to the BC program told EagleAction.com that Marshall was someone that the program was watching, but the coaches were not ready to take that next step and offer.
Now Marshall has reclassified to the Class of 2017. One main reason is to get his core GPA up. Not sure of the issue there, i.e., what it was, what he's shooting for, whether there's a school or two in particular that wants that or all of them do, etc.
He will be attending Proctor Academy in the fall. Marshall's stock is definitely climbing and he now has offers from Pittsburgh and several Group of Five schools. Miami and Florida have shown interest in the past but unfortunately for Marshall, Andover's school year runs very, very late and he's missing some of the camps in the South he was invited to.
Marshall was able to camp at UNC and NC State recently. He was surprisingly blown away at NC State (surprised by his own admission) and UNC is actually the school he was committed to as a lacrosse player a couple of years back so there's a history there.
He did not say much about BC but it will be interesting to see if, once BC hits the reset button and starts over again in the Class of 2017, he gets a closer look. And as an in-state kid I'm sure many of you will be interested in how his recruitment plays out.
