Class of 2025 ATH Blake Woodby Already Has Strong Interest in BC

Blake Woodby has been ahead of the game for a while.
The Class of 2025 athlete was on the radar of Power Five programs when he was just an eighth grader. It helped that his older brother, Tyrin—now a Class of 2022 West Virginia signee—was deep into his recruiting process at the time.
Even though Woodby is heading into just his sophomore season at St. Frances Academy, he has offers from several schools: Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and WVU.
BC, in particular, has stuck out to the Baltimore native.
“I like Boston College a lot," Woodby told Rivals.com publisher/recruiting analyst Richard Schnyderite at the Philadelphia Rivals Camp Series in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, this past weekend.
“I’ve been talking to Coach Aazaar [Abdul-Rahim] a lot. He’s kinda like family to me. So I talk to him just about technical stuff, how to play the position better.”
Abdul-Rahim is BC's associate head coach as well as the team's defensive backs coach. He's proven to be one of head coach Jeff Hafley's most valuable recruiters, especially in the DMV area.
BC has snagged a recruit from St. Frances Academy, where Woodby plays, in each of the last three cycles. First, the Eagles flipped four-star corner CJ Burton from Florida. Then, this past winter, BC signed offensive lineman Jude Bowry. And the Eagles have already received a commitment from defensive end Brian Simms III for their 2023 class.
Here's what Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman has to say about Woodby, following his performance in Philly over the weekend:
"Woodby isn’t the biggest cornerback and he wasn’t the most physical one on Sunday either but he is really fast. He played from depth the majority of the time and was able to cover most receivers effectively. Woodby gave them some space but when the ball was in the air he showed off his explosiveness, closing the gap really quickly and making plenty of plays on the ball. He is still just a 2025 prospect but he has a high ceiling because of how quick he is in space."
Woodby mentioned that he plans to visit the Carolinas in the coming months, noting that he likes South Carolina. He also said he plans to visit Athens in June and meet up with Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown, whom Woodby first met when Brown was at Rutgers.
Woodby said that, above all else, he's looking for a "family-oriented school."
"Where I feel like I can learn on and off the field," he explained. "Learn from somebody that’s gonna prepare me for the league."
Although Woodby has played only one season of high school football, he sees himself potentially committing somewhere this summer.
"Probably going to end up being soon, actually," Woodby said. "Like I said, I like Coach Aazaar a lot."
