Yesterday I reported that my understanding was new commit Mike Palmer would probably be more of a safety than a corner. Although I've said he could play multiple positions in the secondary I was recently informed that he's probably more of a corner than a safety.

Also, I can pass along more interesting scoop on Palmer, why BC likes him and the long-term forecast according to sources.

I'm told the BC coaches like Palmer now but especially for his upside. The hope is he won't have to play right away because coming from an area in New York that's often thought of as having less competition the learning curve might be a little steeper. In those situations evaluation is tougher so it's really important to get a kid in for camp so the coaches can size him up minus the smaller, slower players on film that might that film eval difficult.

Apparently at camp Palmer turned in a couple of impressive 40-yard dash times. I heard he ran one time in the upper 4.4's and another in the low 4.5's, so he duplicated time that was definitely offer-worthy.

Although Palmer's profile shows him at 6-foot-1, 168 pounds, I'm actually hearing he's "close to 6 feet" (apparently just a tad under) and closer to 180 pounds. So he's a bit shorter but more put together. They like the way they believe he will develop physically and skill wise and apparently they liked working with him at camp. Think he's a solid all-around fit.
