Interesting weekend with Colorado College and Denver coming to town. CC has been down for awhile but I think their new coach, Kris Mayotte, is going to turn them around. He had an accomplished career as an assistant at places like Providence and Michigan before taking over at CC. But this needs to be a win for BC. The Tigers’ last NCAA tournament appearance was in 2011 when they upset one of the greatest BC teams ever.
Denver looks strong so far at 4-0, although they haven’t really been tested yet. Forward Carter Savoie already has 11 points. Cole Guttman and Bobby Brink are two of their other top forwards. In goal, towering 6’5” Swede Magnus Chrona is solid but hasn’t had a lot of team success yet at DU. I wouldn’t put him in the same elite category with goalies like Jaxson Stauber at Providence, Dryden McKay at Mankato, or Matthew Galajda at Notre Dame (previously at Cornell).
