Need a series win, and prob a sweep at Pitt. Pitt is veteran team, with lots of 4th yr players and transfers and collectively have had a great season. They also are coming off some covid related cancels and have played 1 game, a loss to WVU since April 18th.

On paper, they match up w the Birds pretty easily. They have 2 veteran SPs Mitch Myers, a senior who doesn't blow you away but knows how to pitch, and is a "spin rate" guy. Hes a former juco player as is Matt Gilberson, who also is a 90mph righty that just gets outs.

Theyve had some turn over for their Sunday starter. Stephen Hansen, another Xfer, has started 8 games but has a 6.5 era and has sort of vanilla stuff. Their best BP arm is Jordan McCrum, and yes, hes another xfer, from Monmouth.

I think thisnis a staff the lineup can get to a bit, despite Pitts sucess on the mound this year.

Offensively, Pitt is lead by two power/speed guys, Kyle Hess is their top draft prospect, a soph w 4 hrs and 2 steals, but a better player than those numbers would indicate. Nico Popa is a 5th yr player that has 8 hrs to go along w 12 steals and is hitting. 346

Ron Washington Jr, no relation to the former big league manager that had an affinity for the booger sugar, is another tooled up OFer w pop. Jordan Anderson, a former blue chip recruit for Miss St, is another speedster that hits gap to gap, and David Yannik their 6th, yes 6th yr SS leads the team in HR w 9 will provide some lefty pop.

SP for the Birds has been really strong of late, so we'll see if they can catapult them to an ACC tourney birth.

Duke is in Louisville, hope for a sweep there too.
