So, I have a pretty awesome slate of games lined up for this year. I can't talk about that, though, without mentioning the fact that I'm missing the FSU game. Seriously bums me out. Idiots are getting married and I have to be there. (Why idiots? Because who in the hell gets married in the fall?!) Both FSU and Howard tickets were sold to a user on this site. Well, okay, I just gave them the Howard tickets. I had them for sale on Stubhub for $5 each, and there were no takers.
Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what games everyone will be attending this year. My slate is as follows:
9.5: Maine at BC
I've decided to attend FBS/FCS games only if there is some compelling reason to do so. Normally, I'd not attend this game, but with a new QB taking over there's no way I could stay away. Besides, the early slate of TV games that day is pretty overwhelming. The goal is to leave at halftime though, as the 3:30 games are pretty damn good. Auburn vs Louisville, BYU at Nebraska, and UVA at UCLA. I'm certainly hoping this game is in the bag at that point, if not, I fear for us anyway, so whatever.
9.26: Northern Illinois at BC
Not a game I'm particularly excited about. However, the way the schedule falls it makes sense to go, and these teams seem to be very even right now. I have NIU ranked 60th, and BC 65th so it should be a good game. Keep in mind those rankings don't mean I'd have NIU favored if the game were played today. I'd probably have it as a push game since its a BC home game.
10.2 (Fri): Georgetown at Harvard
I love Harvard football, I love Harvard stadium, and I've certainly never been to a Georgetown football game and it's on a Friday, so this is a no-brainer for me.
10.10: Wake Forest at BC
Another game that's really very so-so. The biggest draw for me is my hatred for Wake. When I was looking at MA programs I was accepted to Wake and accordingly went for a visit (admitted students day) and absolutely had the worst time of my life. I thought the campus was disgusting, and Winston-Salem was worse. Beating Wake is a must for any BC season for me.
10.17: Florida at LSU
I haven't been to Tiger Stadium since I was a kid, and this game fell at the perfect time for me. Initially the plan was to make it to an Oregon home game, but their schedule didn't work out in a way that they had a home game at a time that worked for me. I'm hoping McElwain has UF on the mend in a hurry, because I really covet a night game. Of course, the added bonus is a week in the Big Easy. Steamboats, swamps, cemetaries, Emeril's, and the National WWII Museum here we come!
10:24: Princeton at Harvard
Excellent rivalry and late October in Harvard Stadium with some cider is about as football as it gets.
10.30 (Fri): Dartmouth at Harvard
See above.
10.31:
Virginia Tech at BC
Finally a BC home game I can get amped for. First big win for BC I saw in person was against VT so this game is always a bit nostalgic for me.
11.7: NC St at BC
Another BC home game I can get excited for. I think this is going to be our pivotal game this year. NC St is going to surprise some people.
11.14: Texas at WVU
I have family in SW Ohio and this is the weekend I'l be there, and I usually go to an OSU game, but they're in Illinois that week, so we're all making the 3 hour drive to Morgantown together.
11.21: BC vs Notre Dame at Fenway
This game still pisses me off. I still don't like playing an away game this close to campus. I still don't like bowing down to ND. I still don't like being given their sloppy seconds tickets. Still, I have to go. I can't not. Family connections Civil War style, football at my beloved ball park, the ND band without having to go to that dump South End, etc.
11.28: BC at Syracuse
I was at this debacle in '13 and this time it's the old lady who has family nearby. We'll spend Thanksgiving in Albany and then hit this game up. Dinosaur BBQ is a very nice bonus!
Jan 31: College Football Playoffs at the Orange Bowl
Based on recent history, this of course means Bama will be in this game. For 5 or so years Bama has been stalking my post-season plans. I still hate them, so they'll be there. Of course some team I really like will be in the Cotton Bowl playoff game.
What do you guys have going on?
