With BC and Syracuse looking ahead to this weekend's matchup here's what Dino Babers said at his Monday press conference.

** Says it was an unbelievable win against Virginia Tech. Have a lot of history against Boston College and they're looking forward to a lot of old-timers coming back.

** One feeling at halftime, another feeling after the game against VT. Thinks there's something about this team "if we can survive." Thinks it will lead to something good.

** Tough to tell how a QB will do in games because they're going to blow the whistle any time someone is near him in practice.

** Says WR Damien Alford is still like Bambi. Hasn't grown up yet. He's growing and learning. "Doesn't even know what he's capable of." Big 45 yard TD reception. Good plays have to outweigh bad plays.

** Loves the Super Seniors (COVID) on this Syracuse team. Thinks a lot of things from last year -- written, said, assumed -- "doesn't sit well with them" and motivating them. It's different when you're older.

** Says the foundation is there for Syracuse to take a step forward.

** Only have 12-13 games in a season. Don't have time to feel bad. Have to flush and move on or the season is over. Already two-thirds of the way done with the regular season. Sometimes it's tough to rebound when you lose but it's easier to continue that week to week grind when you win.

** Team showed a lot of faith against Virginia Tech. One thing that had Babers on edge was their decision to kick away to Virginia Tech. Kicked away deep to their return man. Wondered if they should squib, pooch, but kick away with 19 seconds left to a returner? "If this doesn't go well ... I could see the pens already writing... But the guys said they could do it."

** Says QB Garrett Shrader does OK. Throws a very catchable ball where guys can adjust to it. They've had some drops. He'll get better.

** Not so much about development right now, he thinks the team is driven by caring for one another and they're driven. Did say Sean Tucker (1,000 yards already) is better than last year.

** Says they have an extremely young team. They only lose one offensive lineman out of the two deep.

** Babers said a game is a physical exam. There's an instructor (HC) and TA's (assistants). They can't give you the answer but can remind you of things before the play/exam. Wants the coaches to do a better job of reminders and players a better job of reminders. Had a blocked kick and everybody knows exactly what went wrong.

** Asked about the bye week being so late in the year Babers had a laugh.

** Wants his team to know there are always more 0-3 stars than 4-5 stars in the Super Bowl, and how many good players aren't recruited at all.

Not a lot of talk about Boston College from this one but they were obviously glowing about the road win at VT.
