Daz was asked this at the Gridiron club meeting. His answer that you need to win is on target. But you need more than that. I suspect fans go to the games these days to be with friends and support the school as much as to see a football game. They find talking and eating and drinking more fun than the game action. Football also doesn't mean as much to them as it does to a Clemson or Oklahoma or Happy Valley fan, especially those who aren't surrounded by successful pro teams and other entertainment venues. But along with winning, BC must develop exciting team play to draw in fans from the start. Will 2016 bring that? Who knows? I'd like to think the staff turnover suggests the possibility. But developing excitement takes time. Just as winning does. So maybe BC needs to develop a pre-game program to draw in fans before the kick-off. Anyone have any ideas? Use the band? Use the cheerleaders? Use the scoreboard? Ask those not in the 2-deep to put on a show, like a football competition? Any other ideas?
Please, no snide answers. Let's get creative. Something needs to be done to change pre-game expectations, while we wait for BC football itself to create that expectation.
