Clearwater (Fla.) Central Catholic athlete Nate Johnson visited Wisconsin earlier this month and told BadgerBlitz.com of the Rivals Network that the Badgers were at the top for him at that point.

Even so, he emphasized that his recruiting process was very much ongoing.

"I'm just going to take the visits and work on a decision after I take those visits," Johnson told BadgerBlitz.com. "I'm looking for a place to find as my new home."

But, as if often the case in the recruiting realm during the summer, plans can change.

Fast.

And so it looks like that new home won't be in the Midwest. He appears to be sticking to the East Coast, just much further north.

Johnson, who has the highest three-star ranking possible (5.7 RR), announced his commitment to Boston College Thursday afternoon.

Johnson visited the Heights this past weekend. He was one of 19 official visitors, and he's the second of the group to pledge. On Sunday, three-star offensive lineman Ryan Mickow from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas committed. Mickow, however, isn't slated to make his official visit at BC until later this month. But, on Tuesday night, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha offensive lineman Michael Crounse, who made his OV to BC alongside Johnson, committed to the Eagles as well.

Johnson is a defensive back/wide receiver hybrid. The 5-foot-11 athlete finished last season with 48 receptions for 915 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, he recorded 13 tackles and three interceptions en route to first-team 3A All-State honors.

He's best fit to play corner or slot at the college level. Johnson is rated the No. 93 player in Florida and the No. 43 athlete in the class. Before this weekend, he was scheduled to officially visit Temple (6/17) and Kansas State (6/24) later this month.

In total, Johnson has 21 offers, including those from the likes of West Virginia, Pitt and Iowa State, in addition to the schools he either visited or was prepared to visit.
