Austin Burton remains committed to Boston College even a good while after UCLA's offer. I know some of you might wonder why it's even worth reporting on if Burton hasn't given anybody reason to worry, but he has also been pretty quiet and tough to get on the record since his commitment and the Bruins' offer - hence, this update.

I spoke with a source this week, again about Burton, and was basically told there's "no reason to worry," but something else was simultaneously mentioned: Very much a sentiment of, "We know we're going to have to continue to recruit this guy."

That's mostly true because Burton is going to be playing and studying in Florida, rather than in Massachusetts, so he's not going to be basically living on BC's campus the way he would have been if not for the transfer. That could level the playing field and diminish some of the Eagles' advantage that would exist otherwise.

Burton's father is a newscaster in Boston and his uncle is a personnel guy for the Red Sox so, a source told me, "They know how sports stuff works behind the scenes," and that means they're approaching the recruiting thing with a lot of savvy. That hasn't helped or hurt BC, necessarily, and a person told me, "(BC's) keeping in constant communication with the family and making sure (Burton) knows (they) like him. Right now everything's still good."

"Right now" is a bit of a qualifier, but I think it speaks to the Eagles more knowing they have to keep working as opposed to any real reason for concern.
