It took longer than perhaps needed, but Uconn finally got its New England College rival football game it wanted.... Umass. Although its not the School Uconn wanted as its #1 N.E. School rivalry choice, it nevertheless got a School that is both a Public University like itself, and similar in football abilities at the moment... which make for a good college football rivalry, imo... and certainly far better than any School in Florida that has no interest amongst the School ( UCF ), nor its its fans in being Uconn's annual football rivalry.

In today's N.E. College rivalry Football game, Umass was severely challenged by Uconn in the Game. But despite Umass having to go with its 2nd string QB for this game as its starter was out with a minor injury, Umass was able to show resilience and came from behind and topped its N.E, college football rival today in Storrs, CT 22-17. The weather today in Storrs, Ct for the game was rainy and blustery. Most die hard fans/ alums of both Schools likely decided to stay home or at local pubs and watch their rivals play this game on TV there... as approx. 900 die hards appeared to be in the stadium for this one. But... its a start for the 2 schools nonetheless. The two schools need to come up with a name for their rival game, and a trophy. " The Civil Conflict " has already been taken. Any other suggestions on what Uconn and Umass should call their rival football game moving forward ?
