this has probably been brought up previously but just wanted to gauge the boards' opinion on Shea Field tailgating. The issue is pretty hot right now among young alumni due to the new policies announced for next season (increased cost per spot, 20 person limit for each tailgate). As a young alumn, I'm obviously pretty upset about it. The standard for alumni 1-5 years out is pretty much to share a spot between 20-40 people. Unfortunately the majority of people I graduated with can't justify the cost if split less than 20 ways. They just aren't big enough fans to shell out more money for a game they don't care about for what would likely be a lame tailgating environment (lame to someone in their early-mid twenties). Shea has been an unbelievable gameday atmosphere and that aspect drives a large contingency of people to campus on Saturdays. Yeah a lot of those people don't go to the game at all or show up late, but now they likely just won't show up to campus at all.
I also do realize that Shea Field probably isn't going to even exist in 5-10 years so this is just accelerating the inevitable, but I think the athletic department has to put some sort of effort into creating a similar environment somewhere else.
