You are in the fourth (4th) year as head coach at BC. The job performance of all head coaches is based on your win loss record and performance in the NCAA tournament. Based on the last four years, I would give you a C minus grade. What is your specific plan to improve YOUR performance and get the team into the NCAA tournament year in and year out?
I want an intelligent answer to that question. I think it’s a fair question and fair grade. If he says “we’re young” (sound familiar?), “we’re growing”, “we lost a few close games due to a TO or bad possession”, ….. I would fire Grant immediately. Those are Daz like answers. And it cost us seven (7) brutal years with Daz.
If he gives an intelligent, well thought out answer, I would give him another year. This board’s expectation would be Grant saying give me an additional $3mm annually (estimated) in NIL and I’ll get us a roster that is NCAA tourney bound annually. I think it goes beyond money. I think we have a C minus coach and staff. Skinner had Cooley and Coen on his staff. I see no one close to that caliber or grade on the current staff. Grant had a future NBA player (QP) on his roster for a couple of years and still could not make the NCAA tourney. Am I wrong? Is my C minus grade too severe?
