The exodus of ball carriers was foreseen by the BC coaching staff. I can say the details do not seem to have been immediately obvious for a long period of time, i.e. who's going to leave, etc., but it does seem that the staff knew a while back that transfers were likely.
"Just because of how many guys there were," one person told me. "You can't give everyone enough carries to keep them happy, so of course egos are going to be involved."
I was told that it wasn't exactly a welcome development but in some way defections were expected.
The obvious consequence, immediately, is that BC needs a running back in this class, no question. And as I said yesterday, in next year's class multiple backs becomes more of a need and less of a possibility.
AJ Dillon and Weston Bridges are the two backs that they're in the best shape with in the 2017 class. I have to think that the defections probably help with Dillon although the backfield wouldn't have been as cluttered by the time he got to BC anyways.
