News and notes on the latest recruiting news right here below.

Blake Gallagher did visit Boston College yesterday. I should be able to speak with the '17 linebacker from St. Sebastian's in the near future. In the meantime, I've got some good info from sources.

Apparently, folks at BC are under the impression that Gallagher might be making his decision next spring, so he's not going to drag it out too long. Yesterday my understanding is he recapped his past travel schedule but didn't talk about favorites or anything like that. BC sources are under the impression they're still one of his top options.

Gallagher was there at BC for the scrimmage and he stayed probably 10 to 15 minutes after the scrimmage. He was able to connect with Steve Addazio, Don Brown, Kevin Lempa, Ben Albert and Coleman Hutzler. Of course, Gallagher knows Connor Strachan but he's also on good terms with Lukas Denis, Chris Garrison, Kevin Bletzer and some other guys on the team.

I spoke with a source about Ethan Wiederkehr, the big 6-foot-5, 270-pound two-way lineman from New York who visited a while back, and I was told that he's a good-looking prospect in person. BC has not offered because they weren't able to see him in their camp setting, and that's obviously important, especially to this staff. They will rely on early-season film evaluation in determining whether to offer soon. If they do offer soon it's one he will take seriously.

Apparently Jordan McAfee may be visiting Boston College tomorrow. My understanding is he is still the No. 1 priority at quarterback, although Todd Fitch will continue to evaluate and target other guys, just so they aren't left in a bad situation if McAfee were to go elsewhere.

Finally, Michael Silva is indeed a player BC has interest in. His size could be better, and his speed could be better, too. But he's got a lot of intangibles and does some good things. He could be a cornerback option BC looks at, I'm told.
