First, a team note. Brendan Nosovitch is playing wide receiver and I'm told he looks pretty good and that he moves pretty well. Sources were under the impression that he had tried this out a little bit at South Carolina. We'll have to wait and see what kind of impact he can make there, but there's where he's making an impact right now.
Wyatt Knopfke is a little banged up and should be back in action soon. He hasn't practiced. Don't have the details but based on what I heard he should be ready to go very soon. He will be either a center or a guard.
Shane Leonard is a center all the way for BC. He may actually be closer to 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2 but I have some more interesting info on him. BC's coaches knew he didn't have Power Five or FBS offers, but I'm told he would have had every FCS offer in the country. He's got a stout build and is a technician. His dad's his position coach and that probably contributes to that.
I'm told he has Addazio's stamp of approval and the head man really likes him.
Admittedly, I know less about Curt Bletzer and get the impression that the development was a bit more of a surprise. I do think he'll be a linebacker.
I asked about Lucas Niang and was told that BC would probably find a spot for him but he's been really tough to get a read on. Seems like he's enjoying the process and that's all fine and good but it makes it tough to determine where exactly a kid stands out. Earlier it was very encouraging for BC sources to learn that they and Auburn were his two standouts. I get the impression now that they aren't going to get their hopes too high until he makes a strong gesture towards them, or becomes ready to decide.
Couple of commitment updates: Bryce Morais was offered by Louisville at the start of the month. I'm told things are going well for him. He visited Boston College with his mother, grandmother and sister last week and that was a great trip that went well for all of them.
And I'm told Max Richardson said on video that he will keep his options open into his senior season, so it's time to start keeping an eye on him. Although I have to say, with Bletzer and Tucky, plus Richardson, the linebacker class is already bigger than I suspected it would be. With a guy outside your five-hour radius, and it being so hard to get those guys to visit, you always keep a close eye on those things.
Class of 2017 visitor today: Ethan Wiederkehr, the No. 4 rising junior in New York. He's a 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive end from Shoreham-Wading River around Long Island. Have to believe with a build like his that he could also get a look at defensive tackle or offensive line.
Last year BC did a really good job of getting 2016's on campus early before their class really stepped into the spotlight. It's been a little bit tougher with 2017's, but they've got ample time to make up ground with so much of their 2016 work being done already. I'm told the 2017 class will be roughly the same size as 2016.
