I am not in the "fire the Daz" movement but he is a challenge. Here are my thoughts:
- He brought the team to two bowls much quicker than anyone thought by using the talent he had and bringing in 5th year seniors to help - he built some capital
- He warned us all summer that the Oline was "keeping him awake at night." we now know why but the Oline is worse than what we could have imagined and now make us wonder how this could have happened - a opine so bad!!!! (Flutie mentioned last nite that they weren't even blocking!!)
- The team loses the best QB and RB that hampers an already weak offense and leads to having the worst offense in college football (or nearly).
- Daz has shown inspiring emotionalism at times and yet he gets a penalty at the worst moment in yesterday's game. He does not like losing and seems to battle to win but has shown some defensiveness and has faced the challenges of losing season with at times with too much complaining. Yet, what else can he say?
- He has clear challenges with game management: clock management
- Playcalling is probably his biggest challenge. Is he stuck on a run, run, pass sequence that is way too predictable? Or is he being realistic about the skills of his players? what seems a strength in his first two years ( adapting his play calling to the talent on the team) now seems a weakness or is it?
- With 50 or 60 freshman and sophomores, he has young team. Unlike big factories, who can recruit 4 and 5 star freshman who might have splendid freshman years, BC recruits probably need more years to be coached up if the coach has selected the right recruits... How has the Daz recruited? the jury is still out
- This is the Daz's fifth year as a head coach. He is mid 50's (age) yet his time as head coach at the college level is still not that much. Can he learn to better game manage? Can he keep his cool and demeanor through a difficult year and motivtate his team?
