We can debate play calling, personnel moves, or bad calls (the last of which we cannot control), but the REAL reason we lost yesterday, IMO, is we just don't have a kicker. This has either contributed to, or was the cause of, losses to Colorado State, Clemson, FSU, and PSU last year; and Duke this year. Until that gets fixed, these kind of gut punch losses will happen over, and over, and over again! Just like the movie "Groundhog Day", the story will be the same.
Most years, we are not going to be able to "out offense" the majority of other ACC teams. Our formula for success will be a hard hitting, physical defense, and an opportunistic offense. With that, we CANNOT leave points on the field in the kicking game. The lack of a kicking game influences our play calling and strategies as we try to mitigate this gaping deficit. Yesterday, was a prime example. If we had a decent kicker, we win that game. Last year, we could have conceivably won as many as 11 games!
The fact that we seem to have utterly failed to recruit even an average kicker (IMO), and it doesn't seem to be a priority with this class, is on the coaches, IMO. It is simply unacceptable, IMO. That is my frustration!
As I have mentioned before, I live in Hunt Valley, MD and seldom miss a home game. That should tell you of my dedication to this Program. If I am going to put the effort in, I expect better!; no damn it, I DEMAND better!
(And don't even get me started about resuming a series with the bottle throwing plaintiffs. Sometimes I wonder just who the hell is in charge of our beloved alma mater!)
Ok, enough of my rant. I can only hope the powers-that-be read this forum and understand just how frustrated some of us are!
