Texas tight end made long trip to BC for spring game

Before the start of the weekend Eagle Action rounded up the top expected unofficial visitors for Boston College, with the spring game looming, and most of those players did indeed make their trips. Some didn't.
Blake Smith
followed through with his plans to visit BC.
The three-star (5.6 RR) tight end/athlete visited all the way from Southlake (Tex.) Carroll. That says something about his interest in BC.
A unanimous first team all-district tight end, Smith has offers from BC, TCU, Cal, Colorado, Rutgers, Utah, Vanderbilt and Virginia from the Power Five ranks.
Here's what he said about his trip to BC.
Visit Reaction: "I believe I received the offer about a month ago and just talking with Coach T (Trautwein) and Coach Leonard after this weekend really showed how special it is. After visiting BC i got a whole new point of view and really understood the history behind it and how they prepare you for the next level.
"The coaches are very straightforward and transparent. They don’t sugarcoat anything and want you to succeed. I could relate with them a lot."
Smith said location is not a factor in his choice.
"Location doesn't have an affect on me," he said. "Just the college that'll give me the best chance to be successful."
Smith has made plenty of visits lately, with stops at TCU, Texas, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and BC among others.
Trautwein is Smith's recruiter from BC and he landed an offer from the Eagles about one month ago.
