Three positives:
-Defensive pressure: it was consistent and came from all angles. If the D-Line can keep it up, we should have a solid 4 man rush, and the front 7 looked good overall, too. Only 91 USA of offense for Maine
-Darius Wade's accuracy. He has plenty of room to improve but he showed a level of touch on passes we haven't seen from a BC QB in a while. I'd like to see what he can do with time.
-WR hands. Once again, still room for improvement but way better than last year in terms of our receivers hanging on to balls thrown in catchable range.
Three negatives:
-OL: subpar across the board. There was significant improvement in the second half. Let's hope it continues into next week's "scrimmage", and we will be able to tell if it is a potentially fixable problem.
-special teams: fielding kicks needs some practice as well as kicking (we've heard this before). Fielding should be fixable through coaching but kick accuracy/power resides in talent
-clock management: wasted timeouts, lengthy huddles. Once again, hopefully these are just kinks to be worked out, but Daz has shown this each year.
Overall, not even close to as good as I would have liked, but still a W, and a baseline to work with. Also, this camp was not coach speak from Daz, he was being pretty open about the team's status.
