Marshfield center Shane Leonard took in BC's season opener on Saturday and the state's No. 4 senior prospect came away impressed.
Leonard met Anthony Brown and Adam Korutz.
When it came to the game, Leonard was patient and happy the Eagles were able to finally exert their will.
"In the beginning," Leonard began, "I thought they started off slow. But towards the end BC started pulling away. Things started clicking and it was exciting."
But the game itself was only part of the excitement on Saturday for Leonard, the 6-foot-3, 290-pound offensive center who committed to BC just last month.
He was able to speak with coaches, see other commitments, experience game day, and imagine himself on the field.
"It all went very well," Leonard told EagleAction.com. "I always loved going up there. I always love it. Usually, before (games) we'll walk into a big conference room. (Saturday) we had breakfast. Then they took us down for the Eagle Walk. We watched the Eagle Walk happen and then, because I'm committed now, I could go into the locker room pregame and go on the field.
"It was great, being (in the locker room). It was just that typical Steve Addazio-esque thing. It was that same mentality and attitude," Leonard continued. "He really just harped on the fact that it was a long summer, that they had practiced a lot, and they really needed to go out there and see where they stood."
Leonard said he was finally able to meet quarterback commitment Anthony Brown and fellow line commitment Adam Korutz, who will be a defensive tackle for the Eagles.
"It was great meeting them," Leonard explained. "We have a group chat going but it was great to be able to talk to each other beforehand. It was great getting to meet them. They're just like me. They're kind of from that BC mold."
