Colorado's football program added another recruit to its 2016 signing class when three-star cornerback Ronnie Blackmon pledged to the Buffaloes Wednesday morning.
Blackmon, who is listed at 5-foot-10, 174 pounds, plays for Westlake High School in Atlanta and chose CU over a long list of other schools. 247Sports was the first to report the oral commitment.
According to Rivals, Blackmon had seventeen Division I offers, including Arizona, Colorado State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and West Virginia.
"I am proud to say that I'm officially committed to play my college football for the Colorado Buffaloes," Blackmon wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday.
Messages left from Blackmon were not immediately returned.
The three-year lettermen was a triple threat at Westlake. In addition to corner, Blackmon spent significant time at receiver and returner. He amassed 965 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns in twelve games as a junior. He also had four interceptions on defense.
Blackmon's greatest asset may be his speed and athleticism. He ran a 4.02 shuttle, which is amongst the top times in the nation.
He previously pledged to Boston College in the winter, according to Scout.com, but opened up his recruitment in the spring.
Blackmon is the fifth pledge to CU's 2016 recruiting class joining California linebacker Akil Jones, Oregon quarterback Sam Noyer, Georgia receiver Derrion Rakestraw and Denver South offensive lineman Terriek Roberts.
