Nearly two days removed from the NC State game I finally had the frame of mind to listen to the post game press conference.

After all that had been written here I guess I was braced to hear something worse. Daz's rhetoric, I think was fairly typical of what most coaches might be in this situation. Granted, he was defensive throughout, but he also was steadfast about the future, and was confident the "experience" factor for this young team ( and it is young) would pay dividends.

I did not think Daz was embarrassing.

My issue isn't so much what he said during the conference, as it is with whether or not he can get this thing turned around in the next 2 years ( his own 5 year timeline). There is a lot more wrong with the program than this "gap" in numbers with the upper classes on this team, as many of us have identified. The real question at risk is whether Daz sees these other variables as problematic.

Recruiting, offensive philosophy, game planning, game management, player development all appear to be sub par. My premise is that if this weak framework doesn't change, just because all 4 ( plus 5th year) classes become more evenly distributed, all the experience in the world won't necessarily mean higher on field achievement in wins.

I disagree, as well with those who don't see Daz as being accountable with his language. On the contrary, he is backing himself into a corner which will ultimately determine his fate. He openly admits in this press conference to committing to a 5 year fix. That leaves 2 years. He also is clear that the problems we see today on the field will clear up with time through his ability to coach.

Clearly he is frustrated, but he doesn't seemed concerned. Let him be confident. His way will either work, or it won't. And the rest of us will have a much clearer picture by next November if this is salvageable under current leadership.
