I hope Burton has a wonderful life and a successful career at UCLA.
Apparently, BC has another scholarship open now. Hopefully we fill it with a student athlete who will benefit BC and himself with what BC has to offer.
If we are faith filled people we recognize that things have a way of working themselves out.
We all get caught up in the significance of the decisions of 18 and 19 year old recruits as where they go to school. We are fortunate to support a school that is run by Jesuits that actually gets it right most of the time. Whether it be a football decision or more important life decision, we are backing a tremendous institution.
I like the current direction of the football program. While it is clearly a mixed bag, our progress will likely be incremental rather than geometric. We are often getting kids who are deciding between Harvard and BC rather than BC and Alabama. Kids getting into the best academic schools for football also tend to be kids of high character. While there are exceptions, they tend to be hard workers and bright. Not a bad nucleus for a team.
What's more, at least two of this year's likely stars are fifth year transfers that are not recognized in the recruiting ratings. Lowery will likely be the leader of the Offensive line and Towles will probably start at QB. If we had recruited two more freshmen last year, we would not have had room for these two late signees.
Have a little faith.
