When watching the NSD show that BC produced this morning, I noted a comment made during the interview of Scot Loeffler that we have 6 Qbs on the roster (Towles, Wade, Smith, Flutie, Fadule, and Brown). Something has to give among that group. Towles is likely the starter for this year given last years performance. Brown will likely red-shirt to grow and learn the play book. Wade will likely backup. Flutie I can only see as a third string Qb given that he did not show a tremendous amount of athleticism last year. I leave out Smith because he is too athletic to keep on the bench as a backup Qb. Fadule may find his way on the field in another position (maybe fill the Bordner role) or simply serve as the scout team Qb. I love the depth and ability to develop our talent, especially after last year. Yet even this seems like too much.

My hope is that Brown shows a lot this spring/summer to the point where the staff feels comfortable transitioning Smith to another skill position. Arguably our most athletic player, he has to be on the field. If Towles has an arm, maybe he can finally serve as our burner capable of opening up the middle of the field for our TEs, slot guys, and RBs in the passing game.

I'm curious on people's thoughts on this. Who knows what the staff has in mind, but it seems like the best way to reset the roster inbalance at the Qb position and meet a significant need at WR. All dependent on Brown though.
