Problems with this team

- Addazio’s clock management – It’s already been said on this board countless times, but it’s truly incredible how poorly he manages the clock. Not only should he be well versed in the various strategies to conserve time during those instances, but there’s also an element of common sense that he obviously lacks. It’s truly embarrassing how inept he is managing the clock.

- Use of talent - The problem isn’t the lack of playmakers and speed on this team, it’s the coach’s inability to use them properly. We have Alston, Willis, Outlow, Thad Smith, Robinson, and Jackson..….all players with speed and athleticism that can make plays. Rouse, Dudeck and Addazio are not going to cut it against ACC talent. I understand that Jeff Smith is raw and doesn’t have the most accurate arm at this point, but what happened to the jet sweep with Alston? How about a RB/WR screen for Outlow, Thad, Robinson. End around? Wildcat? WE have to find ways to get the ball to these guys in space.

- Offensive Play calling – I know we have an 18 year old true freshman starting at QB, but our play calling is the definition of predictable. Run on 1st & 2nd down and pass on 3rd & long. The play calling is making it even more difficult on our inexperienced offense.

- I’m encouraged by the speed and athleticism that Addazio has recruited over the years and our defense (despite some weaknesses exposed tonight) has overall been outstanding. However, the 3 issues listed above will limit our future success if things don’t change.
