I had to miss my first BC football game in about 10 years (on T.V) yesterday due to my other half arranging a get together with a couple friends of ours. So, for the first time ever I recorded the game and fought tooth and nail with myself the whole evening to avoid opening up my smartphone and catching glimpses of the score. Needless to say I caved in a couple of times, much to the chagrin of my other half. Little did she know, every time I'd check the score I'd look over at our hosts (UCONN fans) and provide them an update on how our beloved eagles were looking. Unfortunately, my plan backfired as our beloved eagles were held back in way similar to that of the Soviets in the Winter War.

Without further adieu, I watched the game twice last night. The first time for my own leisure, the second time to watch the offensive line and see where we went wrong. Here's my personal opinion on a couple things I noticed.

1) Darius Wade is a good quarterback: I will eat crow. I've been calling for Jeff Smith to be starter for a while now. (partly due to our Florida connections and my Florida homerism) Wade showed me he is the real deal and is a step up from Tyler Murphy throwing the ball.

2) This offensive line is BAD!: Our run blocking did get a little bit better as the game progressed. Our pass protection on the other hand was simply atrocious. I can't recall ever seeing a BC offensive line get manhandled as bad as we did yesterday. Harris Williams didn't have his best game. Dave Bowen and Jon Baker kept getting beat by someone half their size. Cashman looked okay and Taylor looked the best of the bunch. I will include the TE's in this bunch because they looked awful as well. Addazio had a couple missed assignments and a fall start.

3)Rouse, Hilliman and Outlow are three ACC quality RB's: I've been very critical of Tyler Rouse since he dropped that game winning catch against Clemson last year, but he looked fantastic yesterday. Hilliman took over where he left off last year. And Outlow had a couple nice runs and was good in pass protection.

4) Harold Landry will be a matchup nightmare for any defense: Although his stat line won't jump out at you, he was constantly terrorizing the Maine backfield and always getting pressure in passing situations.

5) The kicking woes will continue...............................
