Here's a link to the official plans that Boston College submitted to the Boston Redevelopment Authority in May of 2016 with regard to the new recreation center that will replace the Plex. You'll find the bulk of the information necessary on pages 25-50.

Some quick things that stood out to me when talking about athletics:
  • These plans that BC have for the inside of the recreation center are exactly like the ones I described when I spoke to Tom Groden, head coach of the swim team, for The Heights back in April. (bcheights.com/news/athletics-news/2016/bc-swimming-worried-new-pool-program-future-tom-groden-brad-bates/) You may notice that the specifications of the pool are exactly the same, and therefore subpar to what they expect.
  • This is the first time plans have included outdoor tennis courts, which you may note are on the Brighton Campus. It appears from this sketch that there are six, which is certainly a good sign.
  • You may also note that there is a big "Brighton Athletics Center" next to the proposed baseball and softball fields. This may alleviate the concerns of BC baseball head coach Mike Gambino, who had previously been unsure whether there will be a separate clubhouse on Brighton for his boys. This appears to alleviate those concerns.
  • ***I do NOT notice any plans for an Indoor Practice Facility. Currently, these plans show that there is undergraduate housing and an extension to the Beacon Street Parking Garage, as well as two outdoor football practice fields, on the Shea Field site. Now, we knew that the IPF would be a separate addition to the 10-year plan, as its creation was announced only this February while we knew about the other parts of this map long before. However, it is noticeable that what appears to be the most updated plans submitted to the BRA lack this crucial structure. If BC Athletics chooses to comment, or we learn anything new, I'll be sure to update here.
