No doubt I'll be ridiculed for suggesting this idea, but just give it a moments thought. How about BC in the Ivy League? First, I have no idea if the Ivy League would ever consider adding a new team generally, or BC in particular, but might be worth a bit of exploring. Consider:
1. the Ivy League actually adheres to student-athlete model;
2. the Ivy League significantly enhances academic prestige and reputation, really the essential consideration for a serious university; attractive to students from across the globe; Ivy League is still "top of the food chain" for universities;
3. Ivy League basketball and Ivy League hockey are very competitive and play at a high level, even "NCAA tournament level";
5. football is certainly not at the top level, but it is played in wonderful settings / venues on Fall afternoons in the Northeast: Dartmouth, Princeton, Harvard etc. Football games and tailgate experience is authentically collegiate.
6. obviously, conference stability is not an issue and "re-alignment" is not a threat;
BC seems to me to be a terrific profile for the Ivy League: outstanding academics, true student-athlete model for athletics teams, private university, geographic "fit".
