I didn't realize this. That liberal Jesuit priest Robert Drinan was in the House, representing the district next to Tip O'Neill's. That John Paul 2 decided it was wrong to have a liberal priest in the U.S. Congress, and told Drinan not to run again. Drinan didn't. Barney Frank lived next door (Congressionally), and decided to jump in. And he won. And, later, dreamed of asking the Pope, "if he got what he wanted."
