Maybe it's just myself - maybe it's my age....but my wife and I were reminiscing about how, even when we were young adults, Christmas eve had a magical, mystical aura...nothing to do with expecting gifts, but a genuine spiritual feeling, even if one wasn't particularly religious. It may still be like that in rural hamlets somewhere, but commercialism and expectations now rule the roost in most "developed" countries. ...a tragic development, IMO.
