Wow. This is an epic fail by the Patriots. Revis gets $70M for 5 years. However, the only numbers that matter are 3 years at $48M with $39M guaranteed. His first 2 years are fully guaranteed ($17M in year 1 and $16M in year 2). Then in year 3 only $6M is guaranteed.

His guaranteed money is $3M less than Richard Sherman and $8M less than Patrick Peterson. This is a pretty team friendly contract.

The Patriots cheaped out. They just won their 4th Super Bowl and decided to be content with that when #5 was staring them in the face if they did the right thing.

McCourty got $28M guaranteed for crying out loud. He is a nice player, but Revis is a once-in-a-lifetime Hall of Famer and a Game Changer. If McCourty is worth $28M guaranteed (he's not) then Revis is literally worth twice that. $39M guaranteed over 3 years for Revis is a team friendly bargain. The Patriots really effed up and cheaped out. Shame on them.
