For those of you who have never been to the Alabama gulf coast, it is a surprisingly great place to work and live. I'm from CT and my wife is from central New York. We came down five years ago for a job and have never looked back. The schools on the Eastern Shore (towns of Spanish Fort, Daphne, Fairhope, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach) are as good as I had growing up in Fairfield County.
