I am amazed there is not more of an outcry from both ends of the political spectrum that we allow a leader of a foreign power come to the US congress and criticize US policy and in some ways disrespect the US foreign policy efforts, the state department and the President of the United States. Since when do we let a leader of foreign country impact our decisions on policy. Granted Israel, is, and will always be, a close US ally. But nonetheless it is a foreign country with divergent interests to the USA. Besides, the speaker, Netanyahu, has been warning of an immanent Iranian bomb for 20 years. (He warned in 1992 that Iran would have the bomb in 2 years). He has misread other trends in the Middle East supporting the Iraq war saying it would bring stability to that section of the world. And he gives no alternative to negotiation.
It seems we no longer speak with one voice to the rest of the world but two: the real state department and the congress. This move, and the near shutdown of the Homeland Securty Dept, shows at what point we have a dysfunctional leadership in Congress.
