Tim Beckman announced today that his outstanding sophomore wide receiver, Mike Dudek, suffered a torn ACL during a non-contact drill during Wednesday morning's practice. He is to undergo surgery on the knee "as soon as possible."
Dudek was a freshman All-American in 2014, caught 76 passes for 1,038 yards (both program records for a freshman) and six touchdowns for the Fighting Illini last season. He single handily was responsible for Illinois beating Penn State in the regular season. Big loss for the Illini.
